Leggings: Friend or Foe?

I don't know, but something about this legging trend gets me all torn up inside. As a kid of the '80s, I'm scared to go back to my old ways: leggings with stirrups matched with shirts the size of potato sacks. Of course, leggings are back with a sexier attitude, but I still get a little weary every time I have to climb into a pair. But somehow I can't not wear them.
I usually go for the opaque footless tights — just plain black — with whatever outfit I'm wearing, whether it be brown or navy or all black. However, when I'm feeling a bit frisky, I like the fishnet footless tights. All of the ones I wear are footless: I just can't bear the idea of wearing anything resembling a stirrup again. I haven't tried any patterned ones yet, like footless tights with skull prints or ones with sheer horizontal stripes, but something tells me I'd love them. And I hate to admit it, but they do keep me a lot warmer. Wearing them with a nice pair of boots is certainly fashionable, but all I know is that I will never step into a potato-sack-sized shirt again. I don't care if Katie Holmes is doing it!
What about you? Have leggings been making your inner child a bit nauseous? Or do you love the new trend?
