Celebrating 67 Years Of The Bikini

It was today in 1946 that the modern bikini was first introduced to the world.  On July 5th, French mechanical engineer Louis Réard and fashion designeer Jaqcues Heim debuted the new fashion item in Paris at a public pool, worn by Micheline Bernardini, a Paris showgirl.  Inspired by the U.S. atomic bomb test that took place off the Bikini Atoll Island in the Pacific Ocean earlier the same week, Réard named the piece a "bikini".
